7 Ways to Get Healthier this Week
The summer, more than ever, is the time of year when we are most concerned with how our bodies look and feel. However, good health is something that’s important all year! This month we’re introducing our fitness guru Marine (@marine.fitforlife) who will be stopping by the blog to give you her best tips for working out, eating and looking your best. Let’s start off this summer with 7 tips to get healthier this week.
1. Sleep more:
Adequate sleep has numerous benefits such as weight loss, increased energy, improved concentration and better skin. It is as good as for your body as it is for your mind! So go ahead and get to bed early tonight. You’ll feel more refreshed and energetic in the morning.
2. Start your day with a cup of hot water with lemon:
Lemon water is easy and quick to to throw together, on top of being tasty and full of benefits. It helps with digestion, boosts your immune system, helps maintain a healthy weight and keeps skin healthy as well.
3. Never skip breakfast:
After a long night with no food in its system, the body needs energy in order to focus at work or at school, making breakfast the most important meal of the day. It should be loaded with protein and healthy fats, and complex carbohydrates. It will boost your metabolism and you will be less tempted to reach for sweets in the afternoon.
Another #healthybreakfast ? Natural peanut butter on whole grain toast topped with banana slices, egg frittata, almond milk latte. This breakfast is still high in #healthyfat but has a good combination of all macros. Now off to the #gym ? Who's ready to start the #fitforlifechallenge ?? 4. Eat for fuel:
Stop eating anything that does not provide your body with any nutrients and stop reaching for the processed stuff. This means NO to soft drinks and desserts filled with artificial sugars. Eat fresh whole foods like fruits, vegetables and lean proteins.
5. Move around and try to exercise daily
Not everyone is a “gym person” but exercising does not mean going only to the gym! It’s important to move around whenever possible, especially if you have a desk job. Take the stairs instead of the elevator, go for a walk at lunch time if you work in an office, invest in a bike and go for a ride on the weekend.

6. Prep your meals:
You will not only save on time and money, but it will also help you avoid unhealthy food choices. You will also be able to better control your portions. We recommend meal prepping on a Sunday so you get organized and into a healthy mindset before your week begins.
One of the best thing to do to achieve your goal #mealprep ! Take some time on your Sunday to prep your meals for the week, control what you eat and for when your body will need fuel. Prep for your needs and not what you crave. It also saves you time during the week ? #getfit #fitgirlsmontreal #howto #mealprepsunday #goals #fitness #healthylifestyle #changeforthebest
7. Cut down on alcohol:
With summer approaching, it can be hard to turn down a cool martini! But keep in mind, alcohol has a lot of calories. If you’re sitting on a terrace this summer, we recommend sipping soda water infused with berries or citrus for a refreshing alcohol alternative.
