Grammys 2016 Recap
Yesterday marked the 58th Annual Grammy Awards. We love awards season as there is always so much to discuss. The dresses! The jewelry! The performances! The Grammys are always a star-studded event and last night did not disappoint. All of the industry’s biggest stars were there: Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Adele, The Weeknd, Selena Gomez, John Legend, Lady Gaga, Kendrick Lamar, Ariana Grande, Sam Smith, Elie Goulding, Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood and so many more. Here is our Grammy 2016 recap of some of our favourite moments and looks of the evening.
1. Friendship first
Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez being each other’s dates and both looking beautiful. We love to see girls valuing their friendships.
2. Look back at it
We love the back detail on Elie Goulding’s dress. From the front, her look was a simple pretty pastel but oh the back! We love bling on a night like this.
3. All I Ask
Adele’s performance was plagued by some technical issues with the mike and she somehow still nailed it. Only Adele could handle this with such class and grace. What a talent!
4. Love it when you call me legs
Leg slits were a major trend of the evening, with the look popping up on Carrie Underwood and Ciara. Carrie Underwood’s look was more understated and classic while Ciara went for a bold and daring statement. Which do you prefer?
5. Celebrity in training
Justin Bieber brought his little brother as his date to the show this year. Too cute!
6. Let’s Dance
Lady Gaga’s tribute to David Bowie was incredible. We’re always amazed with how she can transform herself as an artist, much like Bowie himself.
7. White sparkle
8. The happiest tears
Meghan Trainor won Best New Artist and was unable to contain the emotion. She cried throughout her entire acceptance speech as her proud parents looked on. So happy for her!
9. The original Hello
The tribute to Lionel Richie featured such a varitey of artists, inluding Luke Bryan and John Legend. The performance ended with Lionel Richie himself joining the stage. Demi Lovato was our fave artist of the tribute. Who was yours?
10. Better Than Revenge
The night ended with Taylor Swift winning Album of the Year for the second time, the only female artist to ever do so. She made a beautiful acceptance speech with a strong message for young women. Many noted it to be a shot at Kanye West, but of course Taylor kept it classy and inspiring.
"As the first woman to win Album of the Year at the Grammys twice, I want to say to all the young women out there: There are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success, or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame. But if you just focus on the work and you don't let those people side-track you, someday when you get where you're going, you'll look around and you will know that it was you and the people who love you who put you there. And that will be the greatest feeling in the world." ??BOOM? #Grammys #TaylorSwift (? via @gettyimages)
